Environmental Policy

Tyrone Brick recognises that activities conducted at its sites could have an impact on the environment. This is taken into consideration during the production process at the Dungannon Plants, and also Clay Extraction at the Clay Pits near Coalisland and Killough.

This Dungannon Production site is subject to an “IPPC Permit,” which uses criteria in the SG.7. “Ceramic Sector Guide” to determine B.A.T. Parameters for the “Clay Brick Industry.” Emissions to Air, Energy Use, and Water Pollution are all monitored to ensure compliance with Licence limits and minimise any impact on the environment.

The “Environmental Management System” operated by the company, is accredited to ISO 14001: 2004. A policy of Continued Improvement is ongoing, and Tyrone Brick aims to be a responsible Employer and good neighbour.

A “Greenhouse Gas Emission Permit” has been granted to the company, with entry into Phase 2 of the EU Emission Trading Scheme becoming effective in 2008. There is an obligation to reduce CO2 emissions to avoid penalty as documented in the scheme.

The Company is a member of the “Valpak - Packaging Compliance Scheme”.
